To determine the appropriate size liner for your pond, use the following formula:

For example, a finished pond measuring 10' long, 8' wide, and 5' deep would require a liner 22' long and 20' wide.

After unfolding and spreading out the liner, allow it to soften in the sun for a few hours before marking the desired pond outline. Excavate the pond, ensuring sloping sides and level the bottom. Add a protective underlayment such as sand, discarded cloth, or non-woven material before carefully laying the liner, avoiding any dragging that could cause scratches.

Anchor the liner in place with smooth rocks and gradually fill the pond with water. As the water level rises, the liner will stretch and conform to the slope of the sides. Once the liner is fully molded, secure it with additional rocks and fill the pond.
